Only these few basic details are known, but over the centuries legends and the popularity of St. Nicholas triggered the Christmas tradition from the jolly old man who secretly brings toys to children. Every year on December 6th, there’s something held on the church.

The Cave Churches of Cappadocia – In order to save themselves from Roman persecution, whole cities of Anatolian Christian dug huge underground cities to hide in, and frescoed cave churches to worship in. A very unique place having a very unique heritage, don’t miss it!

The Sumela Monastery, Trabzon – The 1000-year-old Monastery of the Virgin Mary at Sumela, with it’s mountain setting, clinging to some sheer rock cliff in the middle of evergreen forests, could be the most impressive sight on Turkey’s Black Sea coast. Two Athenian monks built the Monastery inside the fourth century AD also it can be visited on the day trip from Trabzon.

Saint Paul’s Church, Tarsus – A newly released announcement through the Catholic Church has added another reason to see Turkey’s Christian sites; Pope Benedict officially launched the Vatican’s “Year of St. Paul” on June 28th, celebrating one of Jesus’ most essential disciples. Paul was born 2,000 years ago in Tarsus, southern Turkey near Mersin. This can be a rare and different chance to experience a religious service in St. Paul’s Church. Services is going to be offered throughout the year.

The Seven Churches from the Apocalypse – In Revelation, Jesus Christ instructs his servant John to: “Write in a book what thou seest, and send it unto the seven churches that are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” – Revelation 1:11
